Billy T Band
Last years Notodden Blues Festival's Blues Award-winner Billy T to come back in 2022!
Bill Troiani was honored with a standing ovation when he received Notodden Blues Festival's Blues Award during the opening show of Notodden Blues Festival 2021. It was a very moved Bill Troiani who was unsuspectingly called in on the big outdoor stage on the pier in the blues city to receive the prize.
The American bass player, singer and songwriter was a truly worthy recipient of the award. It is therefore a pleasure to be able to wish Troiani back to Notodden Blues Festival 2022 for playing with his own powerful Billy T. Band. Billy T. Band are veterans of the Norwegian blues community and who know how to create an atmosphere with music that they describe as "blues-drenched rockin 'soul".
Troiani is known as a key person in the Norwegian blues scene since he moved to Norway in the 1990s. As bandleader and regular host at the legendary club Muddy Waters in Oslo, he has been important for the emergence of new generations of Norwegian blues stars such as Amund Maarud and Kid Andersen.
Billy T. Band has toured Norway with their permanent line-up since the mid-2000s, and they have received the Spellemann Prize twice for their albums. In 2010, Bill earned a Blues Music Award nomination for his record with Louisiana Red, Back to the Black Bayou. He has also played with artists such as Nappy Brown, Junior Watson, Homesick James Eddie Kirkland and Tom Russel.
