Get ready for a concert experience of the very rare and a blues explosion of the great when the American slide guitar phenomenon Roy Rogers meets Norwegian Amund Maarud and Knut Hem. Roy Rogers was recently in Norway to record music with Maarud and Hem. They did a few concerts together to teat the collaberation on the audience. The rumours spread immidiately about a few very succesfull shows. «When we got asked about doing a few exclusive concerts for this years festival, it was easy to say yes. We thaught that this is something our audience needs to experience,» sier Jostein Forsberg.
Roy Rogers is known to the Norwegian public after several Norwegian tours with Roy Rogers & the Delta Rhythm Kings, an appearance at the Notodden Blues Festival in 1996 and through concerts and the record collaboration “Crossing” with Reidar Larsen.
Roy Rogers has released scores of critically acclaimed records with his band The Delta Rhythm Kings, in duo format with harmonica player Norton Buffalo and, more recently, with keyboardist Ray Manzarek of the legendary band The Doors.
Roy Rogers was for many years a regular member of John Lee Hooker & the Coast To Coast Blues Band, and he was the producer on the records that made John Lee Hooker a superstar and Grammy winner with the albums “The Healer”, “Mr. Lucky’, ‘Boom Boom’ and ‘Chill Out’. Roy Rogers have also collaberated and made music with Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana, Linda Ronstadt, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, and many more. Nowadays it is Amund Maarud, Knut Hem and Notodden Blues Festival that apply.
