New artists to Notodden Blues Festival 2023!

Canned Heat, The Waterboys og Supersonic Blues Machine featuring Joe Louis Walker, Ana Popovic & King Solomon Hicks

Notodden Blues Festival continues to release artists for this summer’s 35th anniversary at a high pace. Today they can say that Woodstock legends Canned Heat, British The Waterboys and American Supersonic Blues Machine with Joe Louis Walker, Ana Popovic and King Solomon Hicks as special guests are ready for the anniversary festival on August 3rd-6th. “This is a release we are delighted with. Canned Heat is one of the biggest legendary bands from the Woodstock festival. Their song “Going Up The Country” became the main soundtrack to the famous hippie festival from 1969. They are launching a new album, and visiting Notodden on what is advertised as their very last trip to Europe. The Waterboys is a band that has broad appeal and that sell out all their concerts a day. With Joe Louis Walker, Ana Popovic and King Solomon Hicks as special guests, we have put together an edition of Supersonic Blues Machine especially for Notodden that is both current and hits the heart of the blues audience. This is an artist launch that feels right before a jubilee festival at Notodden in the sign of the blues. Don’t miss Canned Heat when they come to Norway for the last time,” says festival manager Jostein Forsberg.

CANNED HEAT

Blues and Boogie-icons, Canned Heat, are returning to Notodden Blues Festival in 2023. Canned Heat remained one of the really big bands after the Woodstock festival in 1969, and their song “Going Up The Country” stuck as the very musical identity of the world’s most famous hippie festival. Canned Heat conquered world domination with the chart toppers “On The Road Aagain” and “Let’s Work Together”.

THE WATERBOYS

When The Waterboys visited the Notodden Blues Festival in 2015, Mike Scott and the band lived up to their standards. With both old hits and new songs, they had the audience in the palm of their hand. The audience was on board from start to finish. Led by Mike Scott, the fantastic The Waterboys return to Bluescity in Telemark for a concert in Hovigs Hangar on Saturday August 5th. The Waterboys have a unique position among audiences in Norway. All their concerts are sold out in good time, and with hit songs such as “Fisherman’s Blues” and “The Whole of the Moon” they are still regulars on Norwegian radio stations.

SUPERSONIC BLUES MACHINE

featuring JOE LOUIS WALKER, ANA POPOVIC & KING SOLOMON HICKS

Supersonic Blues Machine has lifted the mood in the ceiling at Hovigs Hangar on their previous visits. Now bringing them back for our 35th anniversary, the band consists of Joe Louis Walker, Ana Popovic, King Solomon Hicks, Kris Barras, Kenny Aronoff and Fabrizio Grossi. All these celebrities can be found on the band’s latest record “Voodoo Nation”. The brains behind this supergroup are still Kenny Aronoff and Fabrizio Grossi. Together they have a musical track record that includes collaborations with superstars such as Billy F. Gibbons, Eric Clapton, John Fogerty, Joe Cocker, Jack White, Alice Cooper, B.B. King, Slash, Bonnie Raitt and Dr. John. British Kris Barras is a new permanent member of the band after Lance Lopez chose to continue with his solo career. We have received many inquiries about booking Kris Barras to Notodden. Now he comes.
