The real thing: Mississippi blues from Clarksdale!

The real thing: Mississippi blues from Clarksdale!

The Notodden Blues Festival, has since 1998 regularly invited artists from Sister City Clarksdale Mississippi to be a part of its program.

In a year where both the festival in Clarksdale and Notodden can celebrate their 30th anniversaries Notodden decided to gather a band consisting of prominent musicians from Clarksdale, each one with their own individual career.

James "Super Chikan" Johnson has been a favorite with audiences at Notodden with his catchy Mississippi Blues, contagious humor and self-made guitars. Now the festival organizers will present the wide range of Blues talent in Clarksdale. Many of the Norwegian Blues tourists have experienced and grown fond of, Heather Crosse, Anthony "Big A" Sherrod, Lee Williams and Lala while visiting the Clarksdale Blue clubs Ground Zero and Red's.

It is an honor that these talented Clarksdale artists will be joining, the “well known” artist, Super Chikan at Notodden this time. This will be like moving Clarksdale to Telemark.  This is the Real Deal.  "Big A" is a regular at the award winning Blues club Red's, and he has been honored to have taken over the band The Cornlickers which was the deceased legend Big Jack Johnson’s band.

An interesting point is that Anthony Sherrod attended the Notodden Blues Festival’s Blue Seminar for youth when he was 14 years old and now he comes back as a featured Blues artist.
