Get to know one of Europes biggest blues festivals!
Notodden Blues Festival, abbreviated NBF, is a blues festival that takes place at Notodden in Telemark county, and is one of Northern Europe's largest blues festivals.
The festival was organized for the first time in 1988 and then sold approx. 2,000 tickets with a turnover of approx. NOK 200,000. In 2011, 18,000 people bought tickets and it is estimated that approx. 31,400 people visited the festival's official events.
The festival received Telemark county's cultural award in 1998. Notodden Blues Festival was voted the world's best blues festival in 2010, and received the Keeping The Blues Alive Award from the American blues organization Blues Foundation as visible proof of that.
Notodden Blues Festival has a close collaboration with LO and many of LO's confederations, which have been main sponsors for several years. Among other things, the "LO family" is behind a large solidarity concert on the festival's closing day..
