Byting

Byting is a band that should be experienced LIVE – and you can do that at Notodden Blues Festival 2026!

It is guaranteed to be "Låt og leven" when the band Byting comes to visit. Everyone knows it! Thomas Hellekås and the rest of Byting are in top form and on their way to Notodden Blues Festival 2026.
It feels both joyful and right to be able to welcome the popular band Byting from Bø in Telemark back to Notodden Blues Festival next summer. They have been a popular feature on our Rootsville Americana Stage since the beginning, and they are a contributing factor to why this particular stage has quickly established itself as a popular part of Notodden Blues Festival. They are undisputed audience favorites in Telemark when it comes to Americana, Folk and Roots music. After a break in 2025, they will be back at Notodden Blues Festival in 2026.
Byting has been playing concerts all over Norway for over 10 years, and the audience is constantly growing in the wake of each tour. Byting's musical identity is not easy to put into a box, but Americana, Viserock, Country, Folkrock, Roots or rural rock are all adequate to describe the music genre.
With lyrics in the resounding Bø dialect and the Hardanger fiddle central to the soundscape, Byting is referred to as "The Sound of Midt-Telemark". Audience favorites such as "Huldersølv", "Anne-Mari", "Einaste Færr meg", "Mørke slør", "Ensom mann", "sladrehank", "Mann av Glas" or "Spån" always trigger a sing-along and the atmosphere is at its peak.
Thomas Hellekås, frontman and songwriter, has a strong charismatic presence and proudly carries the role of Bøhering and Telemarking. This permeates everything Byting does, whether musically or in social media.
Thanks to Thomas Hellekås's personal and topical lyrics, the songs reach people of all ages. This has resulted in well over 75 million streams of songs that are catchy and easy to sing along to.
Together with a young and hungry band, a well-crafted production, and a light-hearted and playful stage show,
