Daniel Eriksen Trio
Eriksen’s concerts are always exciting, dynamic and atmospheric. This one is sure to be no exception.
Daniel Eriksen is one of the country's most renowned and active blues artists. He has visited the Notodden Blues Festival many times with various musical projects. This time he will be with his new trio consisting of virtuoso Stig Sjøstrøm on drums, and the highly sought-after Richard Gjems on harmonica. This will be a truly exciting concert.
Through great dedication, and almost 30 years of relentless touring across much of the world, Eriksen has built a reputation as an innovative and creative blues artist. His distinctive sound, based on classic Mississippi delta blues and New Orleans Rock'n Roll, has taken Eriksen from Mississippi to Moscow, and has resulted in, among other things, nine critically acclaimed albums, two of which have received the Spellemannsprisen. He has also received the NBF Bluesprisen at Notodden, and in 2018 took an impressive second place in The International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA.
By studying old masters like Blind Willie Johnson, Bukka White and Fred McDowell, as well as “sitting at the feet” of today’s living heroes like John Mooney, Roy Rogers, Bob Brozman and Sonny Landreth, Daniel Eriksen has developed a distinctive guitar style based on open tunings and bottleneck.
