Rick Estrin & the Nightcats

"This band is the best in the land", writes American Blues Music Magazine about Rick Estrin & the Nightcats.

After experiencing this fantastic band several times, we can agree with that. This band is simply fantastic!
The band is led in an exemplary manner by singer and harmonica player Rick Estrin. At his side stands Norway's blues pride, Kid Andersen, and delivers sparkling blues guitar that is unparalleled in the world today. This group is musically equipped to the tips of their fingers and lives to entertain. They play as if life depends on it, and as if every concert could be the last.

Rick Estrin visited the Notodden Blues Festival for the first time in 1992. At that time, Charlie Batey was the guitarist and the band was called Little Charlie & the Nightcats. Even then, they made a splash at Notodden. They returned in 1995 both with their own concerts and as a backing band for blues legend John Hammond.
After Charlie Batey died, Norwegian Christoffer Lund Andersen, better known as Kid Andersen, took over the guitar position in The Nightcats. According to Rick Estrin was the only one who could replace Charlie Batey. Now the band is considered the best blues band in the US. It will be a party to have them back in Notodden this summer.
