American Ladies in The House:

This show is a manifestation of the relevance and importance of black American female artists in blues and soul. Well supported by award-winning Canadian guitarist Paul Deslauriers and a fantastic band, Annika Chambers, Terrie Odabi and Lady A give you a concert experience you won’t soon forget.

Terrie Odabi made a name for herself at the Notodden Blues Festival 2023 as a vocalist with The Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra, while Annika Chambers and Lady A are new acquaintances for the audience at Notodden. Like most great American vocalists, all three have a background as singers from childhood in church choirs, but it is in the blues that they have found their inner voice and career path

Annika Chambers has won the Blues Music Awards as “Soul-Blues Female Artist of the Year” in both 2019 and 2022. Terri Odabi is said to be “the most dynamic blues and soul woman from San Francisco since Etta James.”. Few artists own the stage and the audience like Terrie Odabi. Terrie Odabi is much loved by blues fans and is one of the most respected blues artists in the US today.

Anita White is known as “The Real Lady A” after the country group Lady Antebellum took her name and started calling themselves Lady A. Lady A is an explosive stage performer who is often compared to artists such as Tina Turner and Chaka Kahn.

Paul DesLauriers is a multiple winner of the Maple Blues Awards (Canada’s national Blues Award program) for “Entertainer of the Year” (2016, 2017), “Electric Act of the Year” (2016) and “Guitarist of the Year” (2013 , 2019).

This edition of “American Ladies In The House” did an acclaimed tour in the spring of 2023. Demand has been great to bring them back to Europe. We are very happy that we have had them stop by Notodden to help create “Europe’s Best Blues Experience” in Bluesbyen in Telemark on the first weekend in August.
