One of the world's biggest and most legendary rock bands is coming to Notodden Blues Festival 2024! Get ready to be served the rock classics on a conveyor belt during this year's Rock Friday.

We thought this would never be possible. Deep Purple is coming to the Notodden Blues Festival! Dreams will never be the same again after the world’s most defining rock band released the song “Smoke On The Water” with music history’s most famous guitar riff to the audience in Hovigs Hangar at Notodden Blues Festival 2024. Deep Purple is included in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and has sold more than 100 million albums. You just have to enjoy yourself wildly!

Uriah Heep and Wolfmother were a huge success and crowd pleaser for us in 2023, but with Deep Purple we’re taking our Rock Friday to a whole new level! Deep Purple is one of modern music’s greatest icons, and has led the way in rock since its breakthrough in 1970 with album classics such as “In Rock”, “Machine Head” and “Live in Japan”. In 2021, Deep Purple surprised everyone by releasing the blues album “Turning To Crime”.

On what is currently their last album, they play through blues songs such as “Let The Good Times Roll”, “Rockin’ Pnumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu” and Fleetwood Mac’s timeless classic “Oh Well”. In the wake of this release, many inquiries came to our office that we had to bring in Deep Purple for Notodden. We have now done that.

Deep Purple appeals to all generations. For the blues audience, it is also great that blues guitarist Simon McBride from Belfast in Northern Ireland is a new permanent band member on guitar. He has previously, among other things, played in Andrew Strong’s band which was a success at the Notodden Blues Festival in 2023.

Get ready for one of rock’s biggest bands to take over Notodden and for well-known songs such as “Smoke On The Water”, “Highway Star”, “Black Night” and other Deep Purple classics to lift the roof in Hovigs Hangar on Friday 2. August. This will be the largest production we have ever had at Notodden. What an atmosphere it will be!
