JJ Grey & Mofro are a fantastic signing for this year's festival. JJ Grey & Mofro are current with a new album, and are brought exclusively to Norway for a concert at the Notodden Blues Festival. JJ Grey & Mofro made a strong impression when they visited Notodden in 2015. Now they return to the Bluescity with a new critically acclaimed album behind them.

After their new album "Olustee" came out on the eve of February, things have now taken off even further around Florida favorites JJ Grey & Mofro. Johnny Andreassen wrote in the last issue of Blues News: "The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd were southern rock's great voices all over the world in the 60s and 70s. In the last 20 years, a lot has been about JJ Grey & Mofro".

"JJ Grey & Mofro embrace everything our festival stands for; blues, roots, southern rock, blue-eyed soul, country, gospel and Americana. This band is a melting pot of music from the American South that speaks to the heart and soul of our entire audience. We bring in JJ Grey and Mofro directly from the USA, and with 11 musicians on stage, including brass and choristers, this will be impressively powerful and a concert for the history books," says Forsberg.

JJ Grey & Mofro have played countless festivals including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Austin City Limits Festival, Byron Bay Blues Festival (Australia), Montreal Jazz Festival and Fuji Rock (Japan). JJ's songs have appeared in films and on television, including on House of Cards, Criminal Minds, Bones, House, Flashpoint, Crash, Friday Night Lights, The Glades, The Deadliest Catch and in films including The Hoot and The Gray Man. Grey and his band continue to play over 75 concerts a year.
With impassioned vocals, riff-based Southern rock, hot-blooded swamp funk, sly Memphis soul and rich, funky blues, JJ Grey & Mofro celebrate life's most basic pleasures. This is a band that this time will take the Notodden audience by storm and become their new festival favorites.
