Fredrick Kaasa

After performing several times at the Notodden Blues Festival as a member of bands such as Caravan Blues Band and Akkerhaugen Raid, Fredrick Kaasa is releasing his first solo album and debuting with his own band on the Rootsville stage in Notodden.

Fredrick Kaasa grew up in Heddal, near Notodden – an area known for its rich ties to both blues and country. Here he got a taste for music early on and already at the age of six he started on a journey that has defined much of his life. At the age of sixteen he became part of the music community at Akkerhaugen Rocksamfunn. Here he has played in many constellations, is a band instructor for younger promising musicians and works for recruitment to the music. Alongside this, Fredrick lives a life as a fruit farmer, where the tranquility and nature provide a contrast and inspiration to the creative process.

Throughout his years as a member of Akkerhaugen Raid, Fredrick contributed to the band's critically acclaimed releases, Nite Owl Method (2022) and Red Filipino Viper (2024). The band's energetic style and dynamic collaborations gave him a solid musical foundation, but now he stands at the starting line of a new chapter – as a solo artist. With songs that combine melodiousness and honest stories, Fredrick brings something genuine to the table. His lyrics explore life's contrasts – love, loss and everyday reflections – and hit listeners with something recognizable. This blend is the core of his music. Fredrick Kaasa marks the start of his solo career with clear ambitions to reach a wide audience. With roots in Americana and country, and a respect for the power of storytelling, he invites listeners into his universe.
