JJ Grey & Mofro
JJ Gray & Mofro is a fantastic signing for Notodden Blues Festival 2025. Many cried brave tears when storms and flight cancellations meant that JJ Gray could not make it to Notodden in 2024.
Now a new signing has been made for Notodden Blues Festival 2025. JJ Gray & Mofro released earlier this year new album "Olustee" to overwhelming critics. They are brought exclusively to Norway for a concert at the Notodden Blues Festival. JJ Gray & Mofro made a strong impression when they visited Notodden in 2015. Now they return to the Bluesbyen with a new critically acclaimed album behind them.
After their new album "Olustee" came out, things have now taken off even further around Florida favorites JJ Gray & Mofro. Johnny Andreassen wrote in Blues News: "The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd were southern rock's great voices all over the world in the 60s and 70s. In the last 20 years, a lot has been about JJ Gray & Mofro".
"JJ Gray & Mofro embrace everything our festival stands for; blues, roots, southern rock, blue-eyed soul, country, gospel and Americana. This band is a melting pot of music from the American South that speaks to the heart and soul of our entire audience. We bring in JJ Gray and Mofro directly from the USA, and with 11 musicians on stage, including brass and choristers, this will be impressively powerful and a concert for the history books," says Forsberg.
JJ Gray & Mofro have played countless festivals including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Austin City Limits Festival, Byron Bay Blues Festival (Australia), Montreal Jazz Festival and Fuji Rock (Japan). JJ's songs have appeared in films and on television, including on House of Cards, Criminal Minds, Bones, House, Flashpoint, Crash, Friday Night Lights, The Glades, The Deadliest Catch and in films including The Hoot and The Gray Man. Gray and his band continue to play over 75 concerts a year.
With impassioned singing, riff-based southern rock, hot-blooded swamp funk, sly Memphis soul and rich, funky blues, JJ Gray & Mofro celebrate life's most basic pleasures. This is a band that this time will take the Notodden audience by storm and become their new festival favourites.
