Southern Avenue
Hot on the heels of their tour with greats like Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp, Southern Avenue announce that they are coming to the Notodden Blues Festival this summer.
This popular Memphis band is really in the air these days. Not only are they on the posters of the biggest festivals, but recently they also released the news that they have signed a contract with the leading record company Alligator Records. A new record has been announced for early 2025.
Since their explosive debut on Stax Records in 2017, Southern Avenue has been a beacon of energy. They have captivated audiences worldwide with their high-octane performances and infectious stage presence. Deeply rooted in the blues and rich musical traditions of Memphis, the band has garnered a wealth of critical acclaim, a coveted 2020 GRAMMY® Award nomination for "Best Contemporary Blues Album" and multiple awards at the Blues Music Awards.
Southern Avenue is in many ways a modern version of Ike & Tina Turner. They burst with energy and music steeped in Memphis-inspired Blues, Soul and Rock 'n' Roll. In the middle of it all, they manage to incorporate a convincing dose of gospel ala The Staples Singers. Southern Avenue simply represents all that is good about the rich music history of Memphis.
You must see this band. Southern Avenue is youthful, fresh and well developed. With three prominent female members in the form of the sisters Tierinii, Tikyra and Ava Jackson at the forefront, they are the fireworks band that will take the Notodden audience by storm in 2025. Southern Avenue is better than ever and guaranteed to be big crowd favorites at the festival next summer.
