Terrance Simien
It's been a while since we've had real zydeco music from Louisiana at the Notodden Blue Festival.
With 2x Grammy-winning vocalist, accordionist and songwriter Terrance Simien and his band The Zydeco Experience on the bill, 2025 is the year we do something about it. Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience throw a party with their hypnotic mix of New Orleans funk, reggae, blues and zydeco and entice you to your feet and onto the dance floor. When this gang takes the stage with accordions, washboards, drums, bass, keyboards and brass, no one can sit still.
Terrance Simien is one of the most respected artists in American roots music today. He and his bandmates have played over 8,500 concerts, toured millions of miles through more than 45 countries during their eventful career.
Since Terrance Simien's family is among the first Creole families to settle in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, his musical roots are firmly planted in the same soil as the great zydeco pioneers like Clifton Chenier, Geno Delafose and the other Simien, Rockin Sidney, to name a few. Terrance considers himself one of the lucky ones to come from a generation directly connected to these artists, and to have learned about the mysteries of Zydeco music from the genre's greatest pioneers and legends.
Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience received the Grammy Award for "Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album" in 2008 and for "Best Regional Roots Music Album" in 2014. We're looking forward to it, because this is going to be a party!
