Walter Trout

Notodden Blues Festival has many good friends that we greatly appreciate and have a close and long-standing relationship with. The American blues legend Walter Trout is definitely one of them.

It is very gratifying to be able to announce that Walter Trout is returning to the festival he loves for a performance on Friday, August 1.
The relationship between Notodden Blues Festival and Walter Trout has always been something very special. Walter Trout and the audience at Notodden are "a perfect match". Now Walter is at the height of his career - to a place where most people many years ago no one thought he would reach.
This popular guitarist and singer with a past from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Canned Heat was supposed to be one of the main artists at Notodden in 2014, but he then became seriously ill and had to cancel all planned concerts.
After undergoing a complicated liver transplant, he came back strong. The audience flocked to the concert halls on his "I'm back" tour. And so it has continued. The number of fantastic concert reviews and glowing reviews of his albums testify to an artist who is revitalized and better than ever.
Back when Walter Trout was fighting a hard battle between life and death, Notodden Blues Festival was among a select few organizers who promised Walter that he would get back the concert he had so unexpectedly had to cancel once he recovered.

When Trout returned to Notodden Blues Festival in 2016, a packed Hovigs Hangar with 6,000 spectators was ready to pay tribute to a returning star and good friend. Walter Trout then gave a magical concert, and the audience welcomed Walter with love and open arms.

Now we congratulate Walter Trout on two new nominations for the Blues Music Awards 2025 in the categories "Blues Rock Artist of the Year" and "Blues Rock Album of the Year", and we warmly welcome him back to Notodden Blues Festival 2025. We are looking forward to it!
