Dance With A Stranger is one of Norway's best-selling bands of all time. This year they turn 40 and the anniversary will be celebrated with new music and an extensive Norwegian tour that runs throughout 2024.

"Dance With A Stranger" was started in 1984 and quickly became one of Norway's biggest pop successes. Through their distinctive sound inspired by blues, jazz, soul, rock and pop, they took the audience by storm and represented something completely new in Norwegian music life.

The big breakthrough came in 1988 when they performed at the Spellemannsprisen with "Everyone Needs A Friend". The song became an immediate radio hit and the starting point for an adventurous success for the four band members; Frode Alnæs, Øivind "Elg" Elgenes, Bjørn Jenssen and Yngve Moe.

After 40 years on the road, they have impressively retained their large audience, popularity and vitality. They are still considered one of Norway's best live bands and are known for their musicality, joy of playing and energy.

After 40 years, Dance With A Stranger is still one of Norway's most popular bands. The band has released a total of eight albums and won the Spellemannsprisen three times, including the walking trophy "Spellman of the Year". With a song catalog that includes hits such as "Everybody Needs  Friend", "The Invisible Man" and "Long December Night", they draw full houses with their concerts. It is a pleasure to announce that the Notodden Blues Festival has been selected as one of the stops on their extensive anniversary tour in 2024
